Professional Bio

Melinda Hemmelgarn, MS, RD is a Registered Dietitian and host of Food Sleuth Radio, a nationally syndicated radio program and podcast that connects the dots between food, health and agriculture. She is a former clinical dietitian, University of Missouri State Nutrition Specialist, and founder of MU Extension’s nutrition communications center. For 20 years, she wrote a weekly newspaper column for the Columbia Daily Tribune. She is a former Kellogg Food and Society Policy Fellow. She is a Climate Reality Project Leader, and member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Hunger and Environmental Nutrition practice group. She also serves on the volunteer Board of Beyond Pesticides. Today’s Dietitian Magazine named her one of the “top 10 dietitians making a difference.” Melinda received her B.S. in dietetics from Florida State University and M.S. in Human Nutrition & Food Systems from the U. of Missouri. She completed her dietetic internship through Cornell University and the New York Hospital. She is based in Columbia, MO.
