Professional Bio

I'm an independent multimedia journalist based in Atlanta, Georgia. I report for newspapers, magazines, public radio stations and digital media outlets in the U.S. and my native Germany, mostly on topics at the intersection of health care, public safety and social issues.

In the U.S. my reporting has been featured by Kaiser Health News, U.S. News and World Report, USA Today, Atlanta Magazine, Georgia Health News, The San Diego Union-Tribune and several NPR affiliates.

I'm also a regular contributor to the German national dailies Die Welt and Der Tagesspiegel, Austrian daily Der Standard, and German national public radio.

Before immigrating to the U.S. in 2005 I worked at Die Welt for over ten years, eventually as an international military beat reporter covering the conflicts in Bosnia and Kosovo Later, I was a foreign correspondent in Die Welt's Brussels office where I covered the European Union, NATO and the Benelux countries.
