Barbara Burgower Hordern was a Houston-area special correspondent for Newsweek and Chief of Correspondents for the short-lived, award-winning Newsweek On Campus in the 1980s. Also the Houston-area correspondent for Money Magazine, she contributed freelance reporting, writing and editing to a wide range of publications, including Time, Biography, Ladies Home Journal, Parents, webMD, onHealth, and more. Currently retired, she enjoys helping to judge AHCJ's annual journalism contest and Phi Beta Kappa of Greater Houston's annual scholarship contest. A Lifetime Girl Scout (really), she is active in the League of Women Voters and the Fort Bend Junior Service League.
