Professional Bio
Allie Miller (she/they) is a queer and bilingual freelance journalist living just outside of Pittsburgh, PA. Allie covers health & wellness, food, education, politics, and LGBTQIA+ experiences. In 2024, Allie graduated with B.A.s in English, Writing & Journalism and Spanish in 2024 from Saint Joseph's University, where they also served as editor in chief of The Hawk, the university's independent, student-run newspaper. During their senior year, Allie completed an honors thesis titled "Beyond the Binary," which explored LGBTQ+ topics through an eight-story series that won several state-level and university awards. In 2023, Allie served as a health & wellness reporting intern at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Allie has been freelancing full time since May 2024, with bylines in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, PublicSource, and the Gateway Journalism Review. They are also a member of the Association of Health Care Journalists (AHCJ), Investigative Reporters & Editors (IRE), and Education Writers Association (EWA).
