Andrea is the former mayor pro tem and city councilwoman for the City of Columbia, Missouri, where she worked to broaden Columbia's nationally recognized workplace, fair-housing and civil-rights ordinances. She also was a key voice and architect of the City’s paid family leave program. She was inducted into Pi Alpha Alpha, a global honor society for public affairs and administration, and received the Missourian Progress Award for work done in social justice. Andrea has a master's degree in public affairs with an emphasis in nonprofit leadership and public policy, as well as a bachelor's degree in English, both from the University of Missouri.
